Standing for Free Speech at Chick-Fil-A August 1, 2012

On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, I was busy helping an 85 year-old lady get her banking changed from one bank to another. Driving her to the bank and home again. It took longer than we ever thought it would, but we got it done. Well, anytime my husband and/or I go to Toledo, Ohio (about 20 miles south of where we live in Michigan), we like to bring back home Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Well, I was busy at the bank right through the lunch hour. So I called home and told them I would be late with lunch. I got my friend home from the bank at 2PM making it a VERY late lunch!

When I drove up to the Chick-Fil-A at the Westfield Mall in Toledo I saw the line for Chick-Fil-A coming out of the mall doors and starting to wrap around the mall. All of these hundreds of people of all ages were there to celebrate our nation’s freedom of speech. The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights states Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. We are all thankful for the freedoms of our great country and wanted to let corporate Chick-Fil-A know we stand behind their right of free speech also. Well, we finally got our late lunch at supper time. I am glad to say that I waited in line for 2 1/2 hours to order our supper that day. It was a grand and glorious experience to celebrate free speech with like-minded people in an orderly, mannerly way.

Free Speech with a Cell Phone

As I was standing in line that day, I received a phone call from my daughter stating that my new cell phone had arrived at our home. I was happy to know that as the cell phone I was carrying was losing its battery power swiftly! We believe we can be and drive our own stimulus plan! We also have an impressive executive team, by anyone’s measure, which has attracted more financial backing than either Google or Facebook had at this point of their journey.
